What a Microsoft license costs, and why it is its own line

September 2026  ·  Todd Frankel

Most IT invoices bury the Microsoft licenses inside a bundle, so nobody can tell what the provider charges and what Microsoft charges. We do the opposite. Your plan is one line, at one price per person. Your Microsoft licenses are their own lines, named the way Microsoft names them, at the price Microsoft publishes, so your accountant can tie every line to a plan you can look up.

The common ones: Business Premium is the one most businesses want. Office installed on every computer, email, Teams, a terabyte of file storage per person, and the security features the insurance form asks about. Business Standard is the same without the security, and we rarely recommend it any more. F3 is for people who work from a phone or a shared tablet, the floor, the route, the clinic. E5 is for companies past three hundred people.

The reason this matters is simple. When the license is its own line, you can see what you are paying for, you can ask about it, and you can change it. A bundle is a way of making sure you never do.

Thirty minutes with a real person.

Tell us what's going on with your technology, what's working and what isn't. We'll listen, ask a few questions, and tell you honestly whether we're the right fit. No slides, no pitch. If we can help, we'll say how. If we can't, we'll point you to someone who can.
