The worst office move we ever saw was planned perfectly, except for one thing: the internet at the new building was ordered the week of the move, and it arrived three weeks later. Twenty people worked from a coffee shop. Everything else about the move was fine.
So the first thing we do, months out, is order the circuit. Then the Wi-Fi, designed from the floor plan, not guessed from the lobby. Then the phones, which today mostly means making sure Teams works on the new network and the old number follows you. Then the printers, which take longer than anyone believes.
The last weekend is the easy part. Your people leave the old office on Friday with their laptops. They walk into the new one on Monday, open them, and they are on. The boxes are ours. The cabling is ours. The one person who cannot find the shared drive at 8:05 Monday morning is ours, and we are standing in the hallway when she asks.
